Building a Community-Driven NFT Collection: An Interview with Lorris Beziers of zkDunces

Tell us about your Project

zkDunces are cartoonish and grotesque, their only purpose is to spread amusement and fun.

We want to build a community-driven collection: we will listen to our member's ideas to add new traits to create NFTs that perfectly fit their vision.

After the mint, we will organize contests relative to the understanding of the crypto ecosystem to foster education: each Dunce will be able to gain Knowledge Points on-chain. We want to distribute our entire collection for free through giveaways organized with reliable partners who have active communities. The mint will be done on zkSync through Omnisea.

Tell us about yourself as CM/Project Lead

I am the co-founder of the collection. I brought the idea of the project (design and concept). I helped to code the website and I manage communication. I am a student interested in Web3 since 2017.

I love Web3 because of its composability, its decentralization and its accessibility for everyone.

Why do you like using Zealy?

Zealy is a very innovative tool to grow organically one's community. It allows to make creative quests to enhance the visibility of the project and engage members.

What’s your Quest strategy like - and your absolute favourite Quest?

Until now, we have carried out a simple strategy (retweeting and invitations), but we will try to figure out new innovative Quests to engage our community in the long run. For example, we asked our members to participate in our dedicated channel on zkSync Discord.

What Rewards do you currently offer your community?

We offer free mint whitelists and OG roles for our upcoming Discord.

What trends do you see in Web3? What are your predictions for what’s coming up next?

I think that mass adoption will come through the emergence of gaming (not Play to Earn, but Play and Earn), metaverse and a better user experience.

Other important narratives will be the rise of L2s, especially zkRollups and shared sequencers.

What other Web3 projects are you also super excited about right now?

I am excited by what Deblock is building: a current account integrated into a self-custodial wallet. Besides EigenLayer and Espresso Sytems are building cutting-edge solutions for L2s.
