Welcome to our interview with Elijah Spina, the Operations and Community Lead of MedDAO, a decentralized community and protocol with a mission to distribute medical knowledge without boundaries, barriers or intermediaries.
In this interview, Elijah shares his experience as a project lead and community manager in the Web3 and biotech/biomed industries and discusses the innovative features and potential impact of MedDAO's protocol.
Can you tell us about your project, MedDAO, and its mission?
MedDAO is a decentralized community and protocol with the mission of distributing medical knowledge without boundaries, barriers or intermediaries.
Our goal is to drive adoption and awareness of decentralized healthcare, or Healthcare 3.0.
As the Operations & Community Lead, can you tell us about your background and how you got involved with MedDAO?
I have a wide range of skills in Web3 and biotech/biomed, and that makes me a natural fit for MedDAO.
I was introduced to the founders of MedDAO after crashing a Bankless Consulting meeting looking for new work.
Before that, I served as Community Manager for both Cannabis Genome DAO and Crypto Sapiens over the previous year while also writing grants and creating/executing marketing campaigns. Within 48 hours of joining the MedDAO server, I was hired as a core team member & community lead, then was soon after promoted to Operations & Community Lead.
I built their pre-launch infrastructure and advised the founding team about branding, leading the project through a highly successful launch.
Why do you like using Zealy?
I use Zealy to scale the engagement in social media, and works great!
What’s your Quest strategy like - and your absolute favourite Quest?!
Social media engagement is my primary way of using Zealy, and I love the auto-validate Quests feature... it's glorious, thank you.
What rewards do you currently offer your community?
We currently offer XP as a reward for our community.
What trends do you see in Web3, and what are your predictions for what’s coming up next?
I believe everything is going to be a DAO. We just have to figure out how.
To quote me, "An organization can only support as much decentralization as autonomy allows." Nash equilibria are everywhere.
What other Web3 projects are you excited about right now?
I am excited about VitaDAO, Molecule, and DeSci. DeSci is still such a nascent field, yet feels like a partial reliving of modern science history, but in reverse. Science has spent a few hundred years following the political tides of the day, such that it has now become fully beholden to ideology, dogma, and inefficiency. Those of us actively working in DeSci are figuring out ways to coordinate funding from the bottom up, without a centralized overseer immune from their decisions.
