ShimmerSea: Revolutionizing DeFi through Gamification

Tell us about your Project

We are a decentralized exchange (DEX) that will launch on the ShimmerEVM. Our Training DEX is currently live on the Shimmer Beta EVM. We are running a competition through Zealy with a prize pool of 5500 USDT and additional rewards in SMR tokens. Our goal is to onboard our community to DeFi in a gamified way, as well as to attract new users outside of our community.

Tell us about your role

I am the Business Development and Marketing Lead. Together with the team, we manage our Twitter, Discord, Telegram, and now also Zealy. We are passionate about DeFi and believe it has the potential to one day de-bank our world.

Why do you like using Zealy?

Zealy excels at gamifying user experiences. While DEXes can be initially complicated to understand, Zealy provides a fun step-by-step onboarding process for users.

We also appreciate the ability to run sprints under constantly changing themes.

Finally, we have documented the entire DEX, but we have found that using Zealy to onboard new users can increase the process by over 10 times.

What’s your Quest strategy like - and your absolute favourite Quest?

Our current sprint offers a 5500 USDT reward along with SMR token rewards. The sprint is structured around different types of Quests:

1. Basic (collecting EVM address etc.)

2.    Onboarding Quests with instructional GIFs

3.    "Spread the word Quests" to share about ShimmerSea

4.    Daily quests encouraging to engage with different parts of the DEX.

My favourite Quest involves asking users to share what they like most about our DEX on Twitter or Discord. This helps us identify which parts of the DEX should not be changed in a redesign.

The campaign is designed as a competition to earn as many LUMsea test tokens as possible. These snapshots are captured when you have LUMsea in your wallet. This creates a price movement that people can have fun building strategies around!

What Rewards do you currently offer your community?

We are currently offering 5500 USDT and 404 special Lumi NFTs to incentivize testing every aspect of our protocol. Additionally, we are providing an incentive for new users to learn about DeFi and how to trade, farm, and stake on a DEX.

Furthermore, we are participating in the Treasures of Shimmer Campaign, where we receive SMR tokens that we can distribute among the Leaderboard.

Our community is the best because it is crypto affine but still quite new to DeFi. So they bring a really fresh perspective to DeFi and show us where DEXes need to become better to attract new users.

What trends do you see in Web3? What are your predictions for what’s coming up next?

I believe the next growth phase will involve onboarding users who currently only hold and trade crypto on centralized exchanges (CEXes).

DeFi has enormous potential to demonstrate the advantages of decentralized protocols over centralized companies with insufficient oversight.

I also envision a future for DeFi without bridges, where users won't even notice which chain they are on anymore.

What other Web3 projects are you also super excited about right now?

Deepr.finance is a very promising lending platform.

Iotapes (ApeDAO) is a strong NFT project that has built a community around knowledge sharing and collaborative building.
