Kleomedes: Driving Innovation in the Cosmos Ecosystem - An Interview with Modestas Stragys

Tell us about your Project

Our organization is a decentralized, community-led validator on the Cosmos Ecosystem.

We started with a simple task: to create decentralization and transparency in the PoS system. Kleomedes is an infrastructure provider that self-hosts nodes to validate IBC networks. We actively support the chains we validate by providing testnet nodes, public and private RPC/API endpoints, and relayers.

As a DAO, we have a constantly growing community of delegators who actively draft proposals and discuss governance on all the chains we validate. We are a unique validator in the Cosmos Ecosystem because we place 100% of our profits under the control of DAO governance.

We drive innovation in the Cosmos by funding and supporting projects that we believe deliver under-recognized and valuable public goods.

Tell us about yourself as CM/Project Lead

I joined Kleomedes as a simple contributor. Although I am a CEO of a few engineering companies and an engineer myself, the world of Web3 has always excited me.

As a result, I ended up investing in various Cosmos Ecosystem projects. Later, I decided to try to contribute to the successful growth of Web3 in some way.

After a few unsuccessful attempts, I found the Kleomedes validator and decided to try again. What started with creating and designing a few Excel files ended with me becoming a part of the Kleomedes Core Team.

This experience inspired me to help people like myself who want to contribute to the ecosystem but don't know where to start.

This is the idea behind the first Questboard I created for Kleomedes.

Why do you like using Zealy?

I like using Zealy because it is simple and fun.

While there are other tools available for the same purpose, I appreciate the gamified perspective that Zealy provides.

It encourages people to be more engaged and motivated to move forward.

What’s your Quest strategy like - and your absolute favourite Quest?

All of the boards we create have one simple logic behind them: they are educational.

As Quests increase complexity, they teach people how to contribute to Kleomedes and other Cosmos Ecosystem chains.

We have built more than one Questboard for each chain we are validating, and they are interconnected (by some Quests).

People from different boards migrate between others, creating a network of contributors to the Cosmos Ecosystem where people can learn along the way.

What Rewards do you currently offer your community?

We use NFTs in our community. We launched the "Kleomedes Contributions Collection" on the Omniflix chain, and distributed these NFTs to contributors for various contributions they make.

Why is your community the best?

Our community is the best because it is constantly learning and is interconnected between different chains.

What trends do you see in Web3? What are your predictions for what’s coming up next?

My prediction is very simple - our Web3 identities eventually will take over our Web2 identities.

As Web3 is built on free communication and transparency between different participations - the future will be more flexible and even faster.

Many projects like TalentDAO, Shade Protocol and Akash!
